Couple Accused Of Delaying Medical Treatment For Injured Infant

UPDATED: Wednesday August 28, 2013 2:03 PM

A Columbus couple has been indicted on charges after officials say they waited to bring their injured daughter to the hospital.

Gianna Rae Margiotta, 20, and Ryan Patrick Kelley, 20, brought their 7-week-old daughter to Nationwide Children's Hospital around midnight on April 6.

The child was having seizures and was admitted.

Prosecutors alleged that the parents violated their duty of care by failing to seek prompt medical attention for the child. They also claim the couple was not truthful with hospital staff.

"If found guilty of this charge, both parents face a potential three years incarceration", said prosecutor Ron O'Brien.

Margiotta and Kelley are scheduled for arraignment on Sept. 11.
