Columbus police are investigating reports of an electricity theft along Lock Road on the south side of town.

A 75-year-old woman and her daughter noticed an extension cord strung to a neighbor’s house without permission.

There's also been a $200 increase in utility bills.

Police say the suspect says he paid someone $100 for the electricity but was not aware it was stolen.

It was unknown if any charges would be filed.
