A 15-year-old girl is the second teen girl to be shot on the same street in less than two days.
The latest shooting happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning in the 1500 block of East Maynard Avenue in northeast Columbus.
Police on the scene say the shooting was the result of a neighbor dispute.
The teen was shot in the foot.
Medics took the girl to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is expected to survive.
Carmen Basye was with the teen when the shots rang out.
“Bang, bang, bang, bang – Everyone gets up, tries running in the house. She’s yelling ‘Carmen, help me,” said Basye.
Police say two houses were also shot up during the incident.
Officers say the suspect was in the area causing trouble in the hours before the shooting. No charges have been filed.
Detectives say a man called to turn himself in before 4 a.m. He was taken into custody at East 7th Avenue and Summit Street.
A 14-year-old girl was shot in the leg around 5:30 p.m. Sunday near Billiter Boulevard and East Maynard Avenue.
The gunman in that shooting has not been caught.
The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital and is also expected to survive.
