An Ohio hospital is fighting for guardianship of a 10-year-old Amish girl.
Sarah Hershberger was being treated for leukemia until her parents decided to stop her chemotherapy after six weeks.
According to court records, her parents say the treatment's effects were terrible and were killing their child.
"Her family opted to not continue additional traditional chemotherapy and was seeking more of a holistic or natural way of treating this disease," said Dr. Rob McGregor with Akron Children's Hospital.
The hospital filed a lawsuit to seek emergency guardianship over Hershberger to continue the treatment.
A county judge denied the application, and the decision is now being appealed.
