Late Monday night, Genoa Townships Zoning Commission voted 3 to 1 recommend to Township Trustees they deny CVS's petition to rezone a portion of land at the intersection of Big Walnut Road and State Route 3 and build a pharmacy.
The Zoning Commission makes its recommendation to Township Trustees, who will have the ultimate say about whether or not the proposal moves forward.
Those who are against seeing a CVS pharmacy built at that intersection see Monday night’s vote as a huge victory.
Zoning Commission Chair Leo Wilhelm was the only one to vote in favor of approving a request to change zoning and support the final project.
The other three Commissioners voted to recommend to Township Trustees to deny the request.
People in the community say they are still determined to fight.
"Now, next to the Trustees. We started out like a snowflake, we went to a snowball and now went to a snowman. Now we are going to be an avalanche and we are going to be at that trustee meeting in big numbers,” Said Jan Meyers.
