Teen Flown To Columbus Hospital After Muskingum County Ditch Collapse

A ditch has reportedly collapsed on McGlade School Road in Muskingum County.

According to the Zanesville Times Recorder, emergency personnel responded to the scene near the power plant in the 8400 block of McGlade School Road. The reported collapse happened on private property.

The paper reported that an 18 year old was stuck between a basement wall and a ditch. He was stuck up to his waist but was conscious, officials said.

He was freed shortly before 4 p.m. after crews had to use vacuum trucks to suck dirt out of the ditch.

Officials said the medical helicopter flew the unidentified teen to a Columbus hospital. His condition was unknown.

The home where the ditch collapsed appeared to be under construction, according to reporters at the scene.
