The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with other departments, will be checking for drunken-drivers Saturday night.
The sobriety checkpoint will be held beginning at 8 p.m. on U.S. Route 23 in the city of Waverly.
The checkpoint is funded by federal grants. OSP has partnered with the Waverly Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on the event.
By announcing the checkpoints in advance, authorities hope to deter drunken-drivers and encourage those planning to drink to find alternate routes home.
