Hundreds Gather For Annual Disc Golf Tournament

Disc golf players wrapped up a marathon session of ultimate Frisbee and Frisbee golf in honor of two people who helped make the games successful in central Ohio.

Nearly 300 participants gathered at Fred Beekman Park for the 15th annual Andy24 Charity Disc Tournament.

It was started after Andrew Starinchek was killed in a hit-and-run bike crash in Westerville in 1998.

“His family and close friends decided to run a charity event to honor his memory,” said Kevin Kula, the event organizer. “(He was a) great individual. He really did a lot for the individuals who started the first year, but also had a lot of passion for ultimate, and as the event kept growing, it added disc golf to honor Mike Dunn, who was the sports rec director at Ohio State.”

The money raised from the 24-hour event helps local charities, including the Boys and Girls Club of Central Ohio and the Compassionate Friends Organization.
