A construction crew struck a gas line on Thompson Road near New Albany shortly before noon Friday.
According to authorities, the leak was in the 6200 block of Thompson Road.
The road was closed because of the leak.
Columbia Gas said the line was made safe around 3 p.m. but repairs were still being done.
They were expected to take until after 5 p.m.
Gas was shut off to around 25 homes in the area.
There were no injuries reported.
