Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer said this week will determine who will get playing time this season.
“All our work up until scrimmage number 1 (August 10) is looking at everybody, scholarship, non-scholarship, freshmen and non-freshmen and then after that we go win a game,” Meyer said Tuesday. “All our focus then will be on game-planning. The focus right now is I want to see who will go really hard.”
The first player that Meyer talked about as earning his playing time will be freshman running back Dontre Wilson.
“I would say he is going to play,” Meyer said. “He just goes really hard, he has electric speed.”
Meyer also said freshman Australian punter Cameron Johnston will be the team’s starting punter.
Ohio State opens their season at home on August 31 against Buffalo.
