A Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted a former Columbus City Schools treasurer for alleged theft in office.

Tina L. Dorsey, 43, was assigned to Columbus East High School, Champion, Monroe and Clearbrook Middle Schools, as well as Eastgate, Trevitt, Beatty Park, Fairwood, and Ohio Avenue Elementary Schools.

According to the Franklin County prosecutor, the school told the state auditor in December of 2012 that Dorsey was being investigated.

Investigators say that there was more than $27,000 in missing funds from December 2011 to November 2012. It is alleged that Dorsey received the money from special events at the schools, including meal programs and athletic events.

State Auditor Dave Yost told 10TV that Dorsey walked away with 50 deposits that were supposed to go into a district bank account.

If convicted, Dorsey faces up to five years behind bars.
