New wheelchair accessible taxi cabs were unveiled in Columbus on Wednesday.
Yellow Cab of Columbus invested in five new cabs that will benefit physically challenged people around the city.
The cabs are MV-1s and are designed from the ground up for wheelchair accessibility.
"We looked at a couple different options when it comes to wheelchair accessible transportation," said Jeff Kates with Yellow Cab of Columbus. "One of the things we looked at was the car specifically built for wheelchairs. Would it stand the test of time?"
The drivers of the wheelchair accessible cabs were required to complete special training, including basic first aid, and had to be licensed to drive the cabs.
Five more of the cabs are expected to be added to the current fleet by the end of the year.
