A white lion on loan from Siegfried and Roy has died at an Ohio zoo.
Toledo Zoo officials say the lion died following surgery Thursday.
The zoo says the lion named Wisdom underwent the surgery to fix a back issue that threatened to paralyze the lion. The zoo says the lion didn't wake up from the anesthesia.
The lion was one of three white lions at the Toledo Zoo. He was born at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2001 and came to Toledo two years later.
Cincinnati's zoo's has a long relationship with Siegfried and Roy that goes back to 1983 when the zoo provided three white tigers to the show. Siegfried and Roy later gave two male white lion cubs to the zoo on long-term loan.
