Police Identify Man Shot, Killed At West Side Apartment

UPDATED: Friday July 19, 2013 6:37 PM

Police are investigating a homicide that was discovered in west Columbus Friday morning.

A man came home to his apartment in the 900 block of South Roys Avenue around 1:30 a.m. and found his roommate not breathing.

Authorities identified the deceased as 33-year-old Anthony L. Pack.

Detectives said that Pack had been shot in the chest.

Police said the initial investigation indicated that there was no forced entry into the apartment.

Neighbor Sandy Lewis said she considers the area quiet and friendly.

“It shakes you to your being, because you don't know, if it was there, where else is it. How much closer can it get?” said Lewis.

“I don't feel safe in that way, because we don't know where the criminal is coming from. You can live with criminal, and you don't know until they shoot you,” added Gladys Dearmas.

Dearmas says she recently moved in the apartment, and lives across the hall from Pack.

She said she didn't hear the gunshots last night.
