Firefighters weren't the only people responding to fires on Thursday.
When flames broke out at a commercial building in Plain City and at a home in Genoa Township, a group called Box 15 responded to both fires to help keep firefighters cool.
"Our mission is just trying to keep firefighters healthy," said the group's president, Brett Barber.
The non-profit, which is based on Columbus, provides cool towels, along with water and food for the firefighters.
"On days like today it's absolutely critical," Barber said.
He said the group relies on donations to operate.
Firefighters said they appreciate the group's efforts.
"High heat conditions just really fatigue you out," said Genoa Township Fire Captain Brady Johnson.
Johnson said extra manpower was called in for the Genoa Township fire because of the high temperatures outside.
In the Plain City fire, three firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat-related injuries. Two others were being treated for burns.
