UPDATED: Thursday July 18, 2013 6:37 PM

Firefighters said a family was on vacation when their house erupted in flames on Thursday afternoon.

According to Genoa Township firefighters, crews battled the fire at a home in the 7600 block of Rolling Ridge Way.

Officials said they believed a lightning strike in the area hit a gas line that sparked the fire at the home.

As of about 6 p.m., 90 percent of the fire was contained.

Officials said it was too soon to know if the home was a complete loss.

No injuries were reported.
