UPDATED: Wednesday July 17, 2013 5:53 PM

Dozens of people took part in a Wednesday rally calling for 'Justice For Trayvon."

The group met on the statehouse grounds Wednesday evening.

The rally was organized following George Zimmerman's acquittal in Florida in the shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

The organizers of the event said it would also be used to address issues that are facing the local community.

A number of peaceful protests have been held across the country since Saturday's verdict. In California, a few of the rallies turned violent on Monday night.
