Clark County Whooping Cough Cases Increase

UPDATED: Thursday July 11, 2013 3:04 PM

Clark County officials are reporting an increase in pertussis cases.

Pertussis, commonly called whooping cough, is a bacterial disease that is highly contagious and can be fatal.

Health officials report that there have been at least 11 confirmed cases this week.

There were only 15 cases reported in all of 2012.

Officials said there have also been pertussis cases reported in Montgomery, Greene and Clark Counties.

Health officials have yet to determine if there's a link between any of the cases.
