UPDATED: Monday July 8, 2013 5:19 PM

The Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center urges all people who have lost dogs to visit the shelter daily until their pet is found.

According to a spokeswoman, only 44 of the 174 dogs taken in since Red, White and Boom have been claimed.

Officials said that the shelter is full and they cannot continue to hold the dogs that do not have licenses or other forms of identification.

Unclaimed dogs from July 3 and July 4 will start being shown on the adoption floor on Tuesday.

Others will go to a rescue group.

Some that are not adoption candidates will be euthanized, according to the dog shelter.

The shelter urged all dog owners who lost their pet to visit the shelter daily until they locate their pet.
