About 1,000 people headed out to the Ohio State Fairgrounds Saturday for RunFest.
The festival was a way to motivate runners for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Marathon in October.
The 24 patient champions were also announced on Saturday.
The patient champions are children being treated at the hospital who will be out on the course engaging runners, every step of the way for the marathon.
“We want them to keep in mind these kids are struggling every day with different illnesses,” said Darris Blackford, the race director. “Stay motivated, stay focused on what your goal is, because they’re going to be out there for you in October, and you need to show up for them in the right frame of mind and in the right physical shape.”
RunFest participants good luck at the 2013 event medals and t-shirts, along with free food and drinks. They even got training tips from health and fitness exhibitors.
