The "Arty Party" will continue in Columbus.
The Blue Jackets on Wednesday announced a new three-year contract for center Artem Anisimov, who would have been an unstricted free agent in July.
The 25-year old Russian was acquired last summer in the deal that sent former Columbus captain to the New York Rangers.
“Artem is a big part of our team and we’re very pleased to sign him to this extension,” said Blue Jackets' general manager Jarmo Kekalainen in a release. “He’s an extremely dependable two-way center with a dynamic skill set and we think he will be a key contributor to our club in the coming years."
Anisimov scored 11 goals to go with seven assists in his first year in Columbus. Ten of those goals were even-strength, most on the team, as were his four shootout goals.
