Police shut down Interstate 70 eastbound on the east side Wednesday morning because of a rollover crash involving a stolen city vehicle.
According to 10TV News crews on the scene, a van with a City of Columbus license plate that read Columbus Water Operations overturned on the highway at about 10 a.m.
Police said that the vehicle was stolen while a water department employee was working at a pumping station at Hamilton Road and Dundee Avenue.
Police said that a man, identified as Darius L. Nickerson, got into the vehicle and drove away.
A motorcycle officer was in the area at the time of the theft and followed Nickerson, who entered I-70.
Nickerson lost control of the vehicle and overturned. He was uninjured in the crash.
Nickerson has been charged with receiving stolen property, failure to control, reckless operation and operating without a license.
He also had warrants out for disorderly conduct and drunken-driving.
He currently is being held at the Franklin County Jail.
