A mother who fled from a store after allegedly attempting to shoplift will be charged.

According to Clinton Township police, the woman, identified as Tylena Hayes, tried to steal from the Old Navy store, located on Olentangy River Road, on Monday afternoon.

Police said that the 38-year-old woman was shopping with her friends, when she started stuffing items into a baby carrier that held her 2-month-old baby.

A loss prevention officer recognized Hayes from the Polaris Old Navy Store, where the woman also was accused of shoplifting.

Police said that when the loss prevention officer approached Hayes, she became combative and fled the store, leaving behind her infant.

Hayes was located behind the store by police.

The baby’s father came to the store to claim the child.

Police said that she was going to be charged with theft, criminal trespassing and child endangering.
