Starting Monday, Ohio Highway Patrol troopers will be keeping their eyes open for distracted drivers.
Ohio is joining five other states in a big blitz focused on enforcement and awareness.
The patrol's aviation section will assist road troopers looking for signs of distracted driving, like aggressive driving, marked lanes violations, following too closely and driving left of center.
"Every time someone takes their eyes or their focus off the road -- even for just a few seconds - -they put their lives and the lives of others in danger," said Patrol Superintendent Colonel John Born in a news release.
The six-state project includes the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and the West Virginia State Police.
The enforcement blitz runs June 17-22.
