Police took a person into custody just after 7:30 Saturday morning, in connection to a S.W.A.T. situation overnight on South Hague Avenue and Palmetto Street.

The S.W.A.T. situation began in the 100 block of South Hague Avenue around 1 Saturday morning.

Authorities on the scene told 10TV they believed a person of interest related to a child's shooting might have been inside the home.

When authorities cleared the home around 3 A.M., no one was inside.

The shooting happened around 8:45 Friday night in the 2700 block of Palmetto Street in West Columbus.

A 3-year-old girl was grazed in the head by a bullet while playing in the front yard.

She was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is expected to survive.

A person of interest is now in custody, but authorities are withholding the name until charges are filed.
