Thousands Without Power In Athens County After Copper Wire Thefts

Nearly 5,000 AEP Ohio customers were without power in Athens County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Athens Sheriff Pat Kelly, copper wire thefts near Nelsonville caused the widespread power outage.

Kelly said that a sheriff’s deputy had found the person who stole the copper wire.

AEP Ohio did not immediately respond to 10TV News about power restoration times.
