The New York Yankees and the New Era Pinstripe Bowl announced an eight-year partnership with the Big Ten on Monday that features the conference’s commitment to play in the annual bowl game from 2014 to 2021.
The partnership with the New Era Pinstripe Bowl marks the Big Ten’s first bowl game tie-in to the east coast.
“The Big Ten Conference playing college football at Yankee Stadium is something I know my father would be proud to see come to fruition. He had a great passion for college football and spoke glowingly of his involvement with several of the conference’s programs,” said New York Yankees Managing Partner Hal Steinbrenner.
The first edition of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl was in 2010, and the game has seen an increase in attendance each for each of its three years of existence, including a record 41,203 people in 2012.
The 2013 New Era Pinstripe Bowl is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 28 and will be nationally televised by ESPN.
