A man is charged with escape, assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, falsification, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident at a north side restaurant on Thursday.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried to stop a man, later identified as Joshua T. Levi, for a minor traffic stop on Friday near the Waffle House at 1050 E. Dublin Granville Road.

When the deputy approached Levi, he detected a strong smell of marijuana. When questioned, Levi surrendered the marijuana and was placed in the back of the deputy's cruiser and gave false identification to the officer.

When the deputy tried to handcuff Levi, he began to fight the deputy and then he fled.

Levi then tried to forcibly pull a passer-by from her vehicle in an attempt to escape, but the woman was able to get away, the sheriff's office reported.

Levi then was taken into custody by the deputy with the assistance of two people driving by.

Levi was featured on Monday as part of CrimeTracker 10’s Monday’s Most Wanted Marathon.

The victim of the attempted carjacking is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 614-525-3350.
