String Of Vehicle Break-Ins Reported In Hilliard

UPDATED: Wednesday May 22, 2013 6:01 PM

Some Hilliard residents awoke to a mess on Wednesday morning.

A number of vehicles were broken into along Alton Darby Creek Road.

Columbus and Hilliard police both are working to solve the cases that left many residents without their belongings.

Connor McDunn said he was late for school after waking up to a mess in front of his home.

"Everything in my wallet was gone," McDunn said. "There was stuff missing out of my book bag and everything."

He said thieves stole gift cards, his driver's license and an ATM card.

Police said that thieves targeted more than half a dozen cars in and around the Lakewood and Westbrook Heritage subdivisions.

Windows were shattered and things were found out of place.

Some owners admitted to 10TV that they left their doors unlocked, making their vehicles easy targets.

Police are investigating whether the break-ins are linked to any other recent cases.
