Police were investigating a deadly shooting in northeast Columbus. Get the story.
A Coshocton County grand jury did not return an indictment this week after reviewing a fatal shooting involving a deputy.
David W. Stahl II was shot and killed by Coshocton County Deputy Ernest Snyder on March 26.
According to deputies, Stahl intentionally rammed his vehicle into a cruiser on U.S. Route 36, when authorities tried to initiate a traffic stop.
Officials said that Snyder and another deputy pursued Stahl and tried to make an arrest near County Road 509.
As the deputies approached Stahl's vehicle on foot, they said he accelerated and drove at them. Snyder fired at the vehicle, hitting and fatally wounding Stahl.
County officials said that any time an officer involved-shooting results in a citizen's death, the case is presented to a grand jury.
