Construction is now underway to widen a portion of West Broad Street, and some west side businesses helped pave the way.
The Ohio Department of Transportation held a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday for the project that will expand West Broad from four to six lanes from Interstate 270 to Georgesville Road.
Workers will also add new curbs, sidewalks and medians.
The project is starting now after nearly 20 property owners donated the land for the widening project.
The $4.5 million project is expected to be completed by November.
