Firefighters freed a driver trapped in a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 270 south of Roberts Road on Wednesday night.
Police said the SUV became wedged beneath a tractor trailer in a collision shortly around 8:15 p.m. Rescuers had safely removed the victim from the SUV by 8:30 p.m.
The driver was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
There was no indication of any injuries to the driver of the truck.
Police had southbound traffic reduced to one lane while towing crews worked to remove the wreckage.
The vehicles were moved to the shoulder of the roadway shortly before 10 p.m. All lanes of I-270 south were then opened.
