Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Vehicle In Northeast Columbus

A person was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday evening.

According to police, a male pedestrian was hit along Cleveland Avenue, just south of Morse Road, shortly after 6 p.m.

The unidentified person was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital. Authorities indicated he was expected to recover.

The driver who struck him stopped at the scene. Police said the pedestrian had darted from a sidewalk into traffic. The driver was not expected to face any charges, according to investigators.

One lane in each direction of Cleveland Avenue was closed because of the crash at about 6:30 p.m. Traffic was back to normal within 30 minutes.
