Alleged Shoplifter Accused Of Throwing Hot Coffee On Grocery Store Employee

A man was charged with one count of robbery after allegedly assaulting a loss prevention officer and stealing food from a grocery store.

According to court documents, Robert Osborne entered the Kroger store, located at 150 W. Sycamore St., on Monday at about 1:25 p.m. and loaded a basket full of groceries and attempted to leave the store without paying for it.

A loss prevention officer tried to stop Osborne, who then threw a hot cup of coffee on him and ran.

Osborne then slipped and fell, and the loss prevention officer caught up with him and grabbed him. Osborne then slammed the officer to the ground.
