Farm Fertilizer Spill Closes Road In Sunbury For Hours

Delaware County officials say a hazardous material spill in Sunbury has closed an area of road.

Officials said that Evening Street is closed between Cherry and West Granville streets.

The spill of an ammonium polyphosphate solution, commonly used as farm fertilizer, spilled into a storm drain and into a local tributary of Hoover Reservoir. The spill occurred at about 1:20 p.m.

Ohio Environmental Protection Agency officials said that the road would be closed for several hours during cleanup.

Officials said that there was no threat to the public.
