A Dublin youth athletics coach has surrendered to deputies after being indicted on a charge that he allegedly tried to rape a 12-year-old boy.
A Franklin County Grand Jury indicted Ross E. Shane, 43, on a felony attempted rape charge in connection with allegedly soliciting sex from a 12 year old.
According to prosecutors, Shane arrived at a location in November to meet the boy after allegedly soliciting sex with him through online communication.
Officials said that Shane spoke with who he believed was the father of the boy via the Internet to set up a time to meet the boy for sex.
When he showed up to meet the boy, he was arrested and has since bonded out of jail.
"There was nothing that went on that would make you think anything like that was happening," said neighbor Joe Vulpio.
Shane is a Dublin youth football coach and an assistant baseball coach, according to authorities.
Shane could face five to 25 years in jail if convicted of the crime.
The Franklin County Sheriff said Shane will not face any additional charges for fleeing because he was not in custody at the time.
