Delaware Corrections Officer Under Sexual Assault Investigation

UPDATED: Monday May 6, 2013 4:41 PM

Authorities said a Delaware County Corrections Officer is under investigation for an alleged sexual assault out of Marion County.

Randy Spencer became the focus of an investigation on April 12. He was arrested on May 2.

He's been put on unpaid leave from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.

"I'm sickened for the victim, if the allegations are true," said Delaware Sheriff Russ Martin.

He issued another statement later on Monday:

"While everyone is innocent and entitled to the presumption of innocence and full due process of law, these charges are very troubling to me. This person (Randy Spencer) worked in our jail and although he's not on the street enforcing the law, he still is a county employee and we expect all of our staff to abide by the law. He will not work a day in this office or collect a single dollar in pay while this case is pending and if he's convicted, I will terminate him as soon as legally possible," Martin said.
