City Council approved legislation on Monday to move forward with repairs and resurfacing for 50 streets around the city.
The measure also called for replacing curbs and building more than 500 curb ramps compliant with the American Disabilities Act.
Kokosing Construction was the lowest bidder on the project at $5,708,504.
A separate road project called for completely replacing Karl Rd. between E. Dublin-Granville Road and Schrock road on the north side of the city.
The work to tear up the street completely, including curbs, sidewalks and streetlights, was expected to start in May and to finish by the end of fall. Sewer lines, water lines and street lights were also to be replaced.
The Karl Road work was expected to cost about $5 million.
The Shelly and Sands company was to receive that contract, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
