The Ohio State University suspended the Crew Club for allegedly hazing members.
Dave Isaac, with OSU's Office of Student Life, said the club broke the hazing rules in the student code of conduct rules.
The club was given an interim suspension. Isaac said the club could appeal the sanction. They have until April 30th or the suspension stands until December 2014.
Neither the university nor the club would elaborate on what kind of hazing allegedly happened.
Head coach of the club, Katie Salvator, said the club would appeal the sanction. She denied any hazing activity happened during spring break. The team traveled to North Carolina. Salvator said the members used the trip to train and conduct team building exercises.
Salvator said the 65 club members are devastated by the suspension. She said the group trained up to seven days a week together.
The crew club was founded in 1978 on the Ohio State University campus.
