Police said on Wednesday that passenger Donald Leonard was attacked by a man when a COTA bus was stopped on N. High Street. near E. 2nd Avenue on Monday.

New video released to 10TV News showed the man punching Leonard, 71, and attempting to grab his cell phone. Leonard fought back, and the attacker ran off the bus and escaped.

Police detectives said Wednesday that the same man was believed to have robbed another passenger on a COTA bus last month in the same vicinity on N. High Street.

In that incident, the attacker grabbed the victim's cell phone and ran off the bus.

Police reports showed another passenger reported that she was punched and robbed on a COTA bus Monday evening near Cleveland Avenue.

"We're always evaluating our security," COTA spokesman Brian Hoyt said.

"Although the perception is there's been a spike, these incidents have been isolated. The safety of our passengers and our employees is the first priority," said Hoyt.
