Marion City Council Considers More Extensive Background Checks For Solicitors

UPDATED: Monday April 22, 2013 7:42 PM

Marion City Council is considering an ordinance that would require more extensive background checks for solicitors.

Those who go door to door asking about new electric or gas contracts, advertising contracting services or selling products must first apply for a license every six months.

The ordinance would not apply to politicians, Boy or Girl Scouts or children looking to shovel sidewalks in the winter.
