Federal Charges Filed Against Man Accused Of Having Child Porn On Computer

UPDATED: Monday April 22, 2013 8:48 PM

The former chief operating officer of the Ohio Department of Education is now facing child pornography charges.

John Childs has been charged with one count of possession of material with a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Childs was the focus of a 10 Investigates story in February.

At that time, 10 Investigates uncovered a search warrant that said detectives uncovered computer images of girls between the ages of 6 and 9 engaging in sex acts with a man. The warrant also stated that detectives found a file called “sister and brother family sex.”

A court date for Childs has not yet been set.

Childs signed a plea agreement on Friday.  According to the agreement, Childs plans to plead guilty to count of possessing child pornography.

In exchange, the federal prosecutor will ask the judge to sentence Childs to “six months incarceration.”
