WWII-Era Grenade Brought To Licking County Sheriff's Office, Disrupts Licking County Jail Visitation

The Columbus Bomb Squad removed a grenade from a vehicle that was driven to the Licking County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.

According to Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorpe, a resident who was cleaning out a barn discovered a grenade and took it to the sheriff's office in Newark.

The resident alerted deputies to what was in his vehicle, and deputies called the Columbus Bomb Squad.

The bomb squad took the grenade away to detonate it off site.

It was unknown if the grenade was live.

The grenade disrupted visitation to the Licking County Jail.
