Based on new evidence, a Delaware County Grand Jury indicted a DNA profile on rape and kidnapping charges stemming from a 1993 incident.
According to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office, in April 1993, a young girl reported that she had been raped by a man who offered her a ride while she was walking alone along a roadway.
DNA was collected in the case, but the case was deemed inactive in 1995 because of lack of information, the prosecutor said.
Because of new evidence, the Grand Jury this week indicted a 'John Doe' on rape and kidnapping charges.
Indicting the DNA will allow prosecutors to charge a suspect if police arrest someone in the future, according to the prosecutor's office.
