Suspect Caught After Attempted Robbery Of East Columbus Business

Columbus police said they caught a man who tried to break into an east Columbus pawn shop.

The attempted burglary took place around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on East Main Street, just east of James Road.

Officers said a security guard spotted a suspicious man on camera, jumping over a fence behind Lev’s Pawn Shop, located at 220 E. Main St.

Police said the man was seen walking around the locked area behind the building.

The guard called 911 and police quickly arrived to the scene.

The officers caught the suspect and took him into custody.

Police did not know if the suspect actually stole anything.

Officers said the man, who was not immediately identified, will be charged with trespassing.
