Columbus Police are investigating a pursuit that involved a crash and an officer’s gun firing.

It started when an officer spotted a car that appeared to have an impaired person in it.

The officer attempted to pull over the car over, but the car took off, hitting two vehicles and the police cruiser.

Officials said the officer then did a pit maneuver with his car.

The car crashed on South James Road.

Two people were ejected from the vehicle while the other two occupants ran off.

The pursuing officer chased one suspect through the neighborhood.

The officer’s gun discharged while running after the suspect.

It is not known if the officer fired at the suspect or if the gun accidentally fired.

The officer continued the chase as the suspect ran into a random home.

The officer entered the home after the suspect and took him into custody.

All four suspects were taken to Grant Medical Center.  There conditions were not known.

Officers investigated the scene overnight and reopened James Road early Monday morning.
