An 18 year old was killed early Sunday morning following a stabbing outside a bar.
Coshocton County sheriff's deputies identified the victim as Matthew D. Gadfield. Authorities told 10TV News that Gadfield was stabbed during a fight near the Cedar Street Inn just after 12 a.m. Sunday.
Gadfield was taken by paramedics to Coshocton Hospital, where he died.
A witness told 10TV News that someone jumped Gadfield outside the Coshocton bar after the two of them had been turned away at the door. Skylor McCoy said he grabbed the person responsible, but then let go when he heard Gadfield did not have a pulse.
Deputies took a suspect into custody near the scene.
McCoy said his friend was supposed to graduate from Coshocton High School this spring. He said Gadfield had aspired to be a mixed martial arts fighter.
"I just lost a best friend and probably the worst thing that ever happened to me," McCoy said.
McCoy said that he believed the stabbing stemmed from a previous fight between Gadfield and the suspect.
Authorities would not name the suspect or discuss any possible motive until charges were officially filed.
The sheriff's office indicated that was scheduled to happen on Monday.
