Columbus police are searching for a driver who took out two signs and a fire hydrant in northeast Columbus.
Officers were called to Brentnell and Holt Avenues around 3:00 a.m.
When they arrived they found a slew of damage, including the fire hydrant spilling hundreds of gallons of water onto the road.
Officers called firefighters and the water department to help get the spewing hydrant under control. At one point the road was completely covered in water.
Firefighters and water company workers were able to cap the hydrant around 4:00 a.m.
Columbus police say they received several calls from concerned neighbors about water seeping into basements.
Crews worked through the night to cleanup the mess. Police say they do not have a description of the car or driver who caused the damage. Stay with 10TV and 10TV.com for the very latest.
