Police were investigating a deadly shooting in northeast Columbus. Get the story.
The Chillicothe City School Board has approved a plan to reduce its force by 10 and a half teaching positions.
The positions will include one elementary teacher, three physical education teachers, three art teachers, one music teacher, two intervention specialists and one part time music teacher.
The school district has already trimmed the staff by 14 percent over the last several years.
The number of people who will lose their jobs remains to be seen, because the district is still awaiting word on possible retirements that would allow some employees to remain.
If a May 7 school levy passes, only four positions would be eliminated, according to school officials. Even with the levy money, the district said it must close a building and make reductions.
