UPDATED: Monday March 25, 2013 7:07 PM

A man is jailed on rape charges, accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally delayed teenager.

Police said that Juan Alejandro-Lopez, 27, is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl.

Police are investigating whether he is the father of her unborn child.

According to a search warrant, the girl was raped at an apartment complex on Fitzroy Drive in April. The girl told investigators that the sexual assault started when she was 9.

Health officials at Nationwide Children’s Hospital discovered the alleged sexual assault when she became ill and was taken to the emergency room for a urine check back in October.

The girl says Alejandro-Lopez raped her for seven years.

Police say they executed the search warrant so they could do DNA analysis to determine if the he is the baby's father.

Alejandro-Lopez is in jail, charged with rape and currently is on an immigration and custom’s hold.
